Abandoned oasis in the Sahara

Before going deeper into the desert, we decided to visit the last oasis on our way. To our wonder, it was abandoned. The villagers left their houses and gardens that they tended to over many generations and moved to the city, even though the soil is productive and the area - the only source for water in the desert.

There is still hope for these oasis to have life back. We met Bilal, who is one of those who try to bring life to the oasis by establishing permaculture farms and showing a good example that it is not only possible to grow vegetables in the area but that such an approach gives also gives life to the oasis.
